"
The Kindle Fire is a 7-inch tablet that links seamlessly with Amazon's impressive collection of
digital music, video, magazine, and book services in one easy-to-use package. It boasts a great
Web browser, and its curated Android app store includes most of the big must-have apps
(such as Netflix, Pandora, and Hulu). The Fire has an ultra-affordable price tag, and the screen
quality is exceptional for the price." - CNET
"
The Fire gives me the features I want at a price point that's less than half of the iPad 2.
I can check my email, browse the Internet, maybe play a few games, most importantly,
I can read magazines in color on a Kindle." - Gizmodo
"
The Fire is a marvelous device." - Chicago Sun Times
"
Amazon’s Kindle Fire is likely to be the first successful tablet not sold by Apple, and there
are several good reasons for it: the low price of $199, the convenient, portable size of 7 inches,
and a rich catalog of books, movies and music offered through Amazon’s Web-based services." - Ars Technica
"
There's a new mayor in Droidville. But this guy didn’t roll into town with pomp and circumstance.
He strolled down Main Street and simply offered more than any other candidate, extolling a plan
based on down-to-earth sensibility and affordability. Meet the Kindle Fire." - Seeking Alpha

Online retailers offer free shipping day

Free shipping worldwide online Deals
UAHC campers enjoy a meal in the camp cafeteria
The deep store discounts came on Black Friday, the online deals followed on Cyber Monday, and although Friday's retail event doesn't have as catchy of a name, it's still a big win for consumers.

Free Shipping Day kicked off Friday morning.

Check out freeshippingday.com for all the deals. It features almost 2,600 retailers that are taking part. Big stores like JC Penny and Best Buy are offering shipping deals, and so are smaller specialty stores like Camp More and Musician's Friend. Luxury retailers are also in the mix.

If you place your order in the next couple of days, your gifts should arrive in time for the holidays. Many of these retailers use the U.S. Postal Service, so take a look at these deadlines. They also apply to letters or packages you send from home or your local branch.

If you're in a bind, and really need to get something there quickly, UPS and FedEx have got your back. This will likely be the most expensive option, depending on what you're sending, but both carriers say express or overnight options on Friday, Dec. 23 will get there the next day, just in time for Christmas or the end of Hanukkah.

Regular shipments from the carriers sent on that day won't make it until Dec. 27. You should call or stop into a FedEx or UPS store to make sure this is available in your area.

And of course, try to get your packages out a few days before the deadlines if you can to avoid any weather related or other unexpected delays.
Today is going to be a fun day for online deals. For many retailers, this is the last day to choose ground shipping and still get your delivery by Christmas so tons of online stores are offering free shipping!

TouchPad deals amazon

HP’s Website, along with Amazon, continues to sell the HP TouchPad, despite announcing the tablet’s ignoble death.
Hewlett-Packard’s Website is still selling the HP TouchPad, the webOS tablet it has condemned to history’s dustbin of dead tech.

Those interested in purchasing a piece of future geek trivia can find the 16GB and 32GB versions on amazon shopping page for $320.99 and $399.99, respectively. Another HP page sings the virtues of webOS, complete with text claiming it’s “the smartest OS ever created.” For the moment, the tablet is also available on Amazon.
THE much awaited HP TouchPad tablet was withdrawn from the Australian market today just 4 days after its launch, making it one of the shortest-lived electronics products in Australian history.
Retailer Harvey Norman, which sold the HP TouchPad tablet exclusively, said it had instructed franchises to remove all stocks from shelves and to contact customers who had bought it and offer them a full refund or credit for another purchase.
The HP TouchPad’s dramatic demise in Australia is the result of HP’s decision in the United States yesterday to axe it and smartphones powered by its in-house webOS mobile operating system, after astonishingly poor sales since its United States launch in July.
The problem for the Palo Alto, California-based tech company was that webOS was neither Apple nor Android. It was a mobile operating system HP acquired when it bought smartphone manufacturer Palm for $1.2 billion last year.
With relatively few apps available for download, and several exhibiting serious bugs, many commentators believed the HP TouchPad was doomed from the start.

The HP TouchPad has had a bit of a rocky ride since its launch back at the beginning of July, with lukewarm reviews and a number of price cuts designed to trigger sales of the tablet. Despite the drop in price, it seems that HP is having quite a bit of trouble moving the TouchPad at retail, as All Things D is reporting that Best Buy is still sitting on over 90 percent of its original stock of the tablet.
According to All Things D's sources, Best Buy has only sold 25,000 of the 270,000 TouchPad tablets that it ordered from HP, and it wants to send the bulk of the remainder back to HP for credit. This is even after HP dropped the price of the TouchPad $100 last week to $399 for the 16GB version and $499 for the 32GB version. Other sources say that the 25,000 figure might even be a bit generous, as it may not account for TouchPads that have been returned by customers.
Analysts have also said that other retailers are having difficulty moving the troubled tablet, with reports that customers are waiting to see if HP will drop the price on it even further. HP will release its quarterly earnings report today, and it may pull a Samsung and not reveal any information regarding TouchPad sales figures. It would be wise of it, though, to quash these reports with some sort of good news. A proper Pre 3 launch in the U.S., maybe?  Search Amazon.com for HP TouchPad tablet

Verizon Wireless Deals For Existing Customers - Plus A Great Place To Find Verizon Deals Online

There are a few places to check out when looking for Verizon Wireless deals for existing customers. You will get the best price on a new phone when you are eligible for a Verizon upgrade based on your service contract dates, and extend your service with a new two-year agreement. This article discusses the potential deals existing Verizon customers can get, and also shows you a great place to find Verizon deals online.
Verizon is not the only place for existing customers to qualify for great deals. Many well-known retailers are "Authorized Verizon Resellers", and in working with their Verizon partnership agreements, they can offer additional savings and promotions when you renew or extend your service through their stores.
Check out the Verizon satellite retail desks at places like Costco and Best Buy. As an example, the last time I visited my local Costco, they were offering the same promotion from Verizon at the time. But in addition, they also offered an "accessory package" that included a car charger, protective carrying case and a bluetooth headset, all for free when signing up with them.
Because of the fast-paced competitive consumer market for cell phones and plans, finding the absolute best Verizon wireless deals for existing customers greatly depends on the timing of what is happening in the market right now.

Today's Daily Latest Deal Potassium Iodide Tablets

Potassium Iodide Radiation Protection Tablets

Potassium Iodide for Radiation Protection

First, be aware that nuclear power is perhaps the safest energy source available for major electrical needs. That having been said, it can be made much safer by having potassium iodide or potassium iodate tablets available in case of a power plant accident. Such supplies can also decrease the risk of radiation in the event of detonation of a nuclear weapon.
Some states, though not my home state of North Carolina, are stockpiling potassium iodide (KI) tablets for use in such an emergency. You do not need to wait for government action; you can protect yourself.
The greatest risk from radiation release following a nuclear power plant accident or detonation of a nuclear weapon is from iodine131. This isotope of iodine is one of the products of uranium fission. The problem is that this isotope of iodine is concentrated by the body in one spot: the thyroid. Thus, the thyroid gets a much heavier radiation dose than any other part of the body. In the years following the 1986 Chernobyl accident, thyroid cancer is the only cancer to have seen a significantly increased incidence, and the increase in thyroid cancer there is huge. The World Health Organization estimates that a third of the children in parts of Belarus will develop thyroid cancer.
However, the thyroid takes only as much iodine as it can use. By consuming iodine-containing tablets for the days following radiation release during which exposure is greatest, the thyroid is saturated and will not take up much of the radioactive iodine131.
The half life of iodine131 is only eight days, so the time one needs protection is limited. In most cases I can imagine, within a few days either wind would have dispersed the radioactive material or we would have been evacuated.
Events that would trigger the need for potassium iodide are quite unlikely, but so are many events that we insure against. I see potassium iodide as an insurance policy against the unlikely event of a terrorist dirty bomb, a nuclear weapon detonation, or a reactor accident.

Buy Geiger Counters online daily deals

Buy Geiger Counters online daily deals

A Geiger counter, also called a Geiger-MĂĽller counter, is a type of particle detector that measures ionizing radiation. They detect the emission of nuclear radiation: alpha particles, beta particles or gamma rays.
Geiger counters are used to detect ionizing radiation, usually beta particles and gamma rays, but certain models can detect alpha particles. An inert gas-filled tube (usually helium, neon or argon with halogens added) briefly conducts electricity when a particle or photon of radiation makes the gas conductive. The tube amplifies this conduction by a cascade effect and outputs a current pulse, which is then often displayed by a needle or lamp and/or audible clicks.
Modern instruments can report radioactivity over several orders of magnitude. Some Geiger counters can be used to detect gamma radiation, though sensitivity can be lower for high energy gamma radiation than with certain other types of detectors, because the density of the gas in the device is usually high, allowing most high energy gamma photons to pass through undetected. Lower energy photons are easier to detect, and are better absorbed by the detector. Examples of this are the X-ray Pancake Geiger Tube. A better device for detecting gamma rays is a sodium iodide scintillation counter.

Good alpha and beta scintillation counters also exist, but Geiger detectors are still favored as general purpose alpha/beta/gamma portable contamination and dose rate instruments, due to their low cost and robustness. A variation of the Geiger tube is used to measure neutrons, where the gas used is boron trifluoride and a plastic moderator is used to slow the neutrons. This creates an alpha particle inside the detector and thus neutrons can be counted.
